Jewellery care guide

Be the Summer jewellery is handmade to be worn, enjoyed and returned to often. A little mindful care will help preserve the colour, lustre and finish of your pieces for longer.

If your jewellery combines several materials, always follow the care guidance for its most delicate component.

Care at a Glance

  • Put jewellery on last and take it off first.
  • Remove before showering, swimming, sleeping or exercising.
  • Keep away from perfume, lotions, sanitiser and chemicals.
  • Wipe after wearing and store separately in a dry place

Cleaning Gold-Filled Jewellery

Gold-filled jewellery is more durable than ordinary gold plating, but still benefits from mindful care.

  • Wipe with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
  • Clean fully metal pieces occasionally with lukewarm water and mild soap.
  • Avoid chemical dips, abrasive polish and hard brushes.

Caring for Freshwater Pearls

Pearls are naturally delicate and may vary slightly in shape, texture and colour.

  • Apply perfume and cosmetics before putting them on.
  • Wipe gently with a soft cloth after wearing.
  • Do not soak, scrub, steam or clean ultrasonically.
  • Store separately to prevent scratches.

Caring for Gemstones & Glass Beads

Gemstones and beads vary in hardness and may have delicate finishes or colour treatments.

  • Clean with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth.
  • Avoid soaking, chemicals, high heat and sudden temperature changes.
  • Store away from harder jewellery to prevent scratches and chips.

A note about water

Be the Summer jewellery is not designed to be worn continuously in water. If your piece gets wet, dry it gently and thoroughly.

Cleaning Gold-Plated Materials

  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Avoid water, chemicals, abrasive polishing and cleaning machines.
  • Plating will naturally soften or show wear over time, especially where there is friction.

Cleaning Sterling Silver Jewellery

  • Tarnishing is natural and can be gently polished.
  • Only use a silver cloth on plain sterling-silver areas.
  • Avoid silver dips on pieces containing plating, pearls, gemstones or beads.

Sensitive Skin

No jewellery material can be guaranteed suitable for everyone. Stainless steel can contain nickel, while plated components may use different base metals.

If you have a known metal allergy, please check the individual product details or contact us before ordering.

Handmade Variations & Repairs

Every piece is handmade to order, so small variations in natural materials and detailing may occur.
